If you’re headed towards Kawagoe, definitely don’t miss the Japanese paper making village, Higashichichibu

Saitama > Higashichichibu

Designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Higashi Chichibu’s washi (Japanese paper) uses the same techniques that were passed to the people in the Ogawamachi area in the beginning of the Edo Period (1603-1868).  In this paper-making village you can learn how to make paper under the guidance of craftsmen who inherited the tradition of making Japanese paper by hand.
