Zenkoji Temple

One of Japan’s oldest and largest wooden temples with over 1400 years of history, Zenkoji is a National Treasure and the heart of Nagano city. It is known throughout Japan as the temple that everyone should visit at least once in their lives, and attracts an average of 6 million visitors a year. The first buddhist icon brought to Japan from India is enshrined here as well as a statue donated by the Royal Family of Thailand approximately 80 years ago.
