Iyoboya Salmon Museum

Murakami has a salmon culture which has developed over a long period of time. There are 100 variations of salmon cuisine ranging from dishes eaten daily to snacks served when drinking.In the local dialect, iyoboya means “the king of fish”. At the Iyoboya Salmon Museum, located within Salmon Park, visitors can learn about the entire life cycle of the salmon.

From Tokyo, take the Joetsu Shinkansen to Niigata Station (2 h 10 min), and then take the limited express train on the Uetsu Line to Murakami Station (50 min). It is a 5 min bus ride from Murakami Station and 3 min walk from bus stop.
