Kamikochi is the crown jewel of the Japan Alps with majestic views of 3,000 meter high mountains. Part of the Chubu Sangaku National park, the basin is carefully protected and maintained. The aquamarine Azusa river runs through the heart of the basin and under the picturesque Kappa bridge, and is one of Kamikochi’s most famous views. Walking trails meander through its verdant woods and lead to the scenic spots such as Taisho and Myojin ponds. Hiking trails extend into the mountains and up to the tippity top of their highest peaks
