Kofu is a short one and a half hours from Tokyo by train or car. As one of Japan's oldest areas of crystal crafts production, the city is today known as "the city of jewels" for its advanced crystal-work techniques. The natural environment can only be described as stunning, with views of Mt. Fuji from the city as well as the Shosenkyo valley, Japan's most ruggedly beautiful canyon. Moreover, Kofu is the home of Japanese grape wine. Not only are there multiple wineries, visitors can also enjoy strawberry and other fruit picking.
