Myoko is situated in the southwestern part of Niigata Prefecture amid soaring mountains, including Mt. Myoko (counted among Japan's most spectacular peaks), Mt. Hiuchi, and Mt. Madarao, the foothills of which form the region's popular highlands area. To the northeast is the Takada Plain and the Sea of Japan. The foothills of Mt. Myoko and the surrounding area are part of the Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, a place of breathtaking natural vistas in all seasons, plentiful hot springs, and ski fields all over.
