Uonuma is located in the southeastern part of the Chuetsu (central Niigata) region, by the prefectural borders of Fukushima Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture. Also, Uonuma is partially designated as not only "Oze National Park" but also "Echigo Sanzan Tadami Quasi-National Park". As one of Japan's snowiest regions in winter, and with its hot and humid summers, it offers visitors rich natural experiences in every season, as well as hometown foods, including Uonuma's famous Koshihikari rice.
