Ice Tillers in Yokoze

Saitama >

In the winter, Chichibu and Nagatoro have the kind of clear icy views you can only get in that season, and these views along with the attraction of spring’s arrival and the plum and wintersweet flowers that come with it, each offer their own enjoyment. The Ashigakubo ice pillars are close to the station, and their easy access makes them an appealing sightseeing spot. There are light-up events on the weekends, giving a romantic beauty unlike the sights in the afternoon. At Mt. Hodosan in Nagatoro, the time to see wintersweet flowers is from mid-January to mid-February, and from late February, the plum flowers are in bloom. Strawberry-picking is a recommended winter activity in the Chichibu area. By all means sample the sweet and fresh strawberries to your heart’s content. *The ice pillars are only available from early January to late February every year.
